The Cargo Village Complex, designed by Architekton (Pvt.) Ltd., has a floor area of 4,00,000 sft., and houses Export and Import warehouses with automated cargo handling system, office spaces, banks, post offices and cafeterias. This project demonstrates the capability of the consultant of handling very large scale projects with complex functions and integration of complex electro-mechanical system with the building.
This is a complex of large volumes that house the entire cargo facilities of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka. The main cargo building is an imposing volume containing 3,00,000 sft of space. Large spans are used to make the space as free as possible. The longer sides of the building express the RCC frame of the structure of beams and columns while the ends express a sweeping arch that rise from the ground up to a height of 65 feet at mid span.
